DESCRIPTION:
The Risk Management Specialist (RMS) supports the Credit Union’s Risk Management program and reports directly to the Director of Risk Management. Working with minimal supervision, the RMS manages daily processing for specialized members, reviews daily reports, and helps ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures. The position follows a hybrid schedule, with two days per week at the Lomita branch and three days of remote work. The RMS must also be able to travel to other branches as needed to provide support and coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review daily reports for unusual activity; document findings and escalate concerns as appropriate.
• Communicate directly with members, verbally and in writing, regarding account-related issues and opportunities.
• Review and prepare Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
• Process subpoenas and other legal documents.
• Assist specialized members with transactions, appointment scheduling, account maintenance, and product or service inquiries; escalate issues as needed and recommend solutions.
• Receive loan and new-membership applications through specialized direct channels, including interviewing applicants, collecting documentation, and conducting an initial review and underwriting when applicable.
• Participate occasionally in specialized business development events.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:

• Provide friendly, prompt, professional, and accurate service to members and team members, resolving follow-up items within one business day.
• Process all new specialized account and account-maintenance documentation in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Safeguard member information during business hours and overnight.
• Prepare and complete required daily reports accurately and on time.
• Keep management informed of key issues.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Related experience in Risk Management, Loss Prevention, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Compliance, or Cannabis Banking
• Relevant certifications or credentials preferred
• Professional, dependable, flexible, and enthusiastic approach to assigned responsibilities
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Self-motivated, solution-oriented approach to work
• Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and internet-based tools
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Ability to travel to other branches to provide support and coverage as needed
